Another Evening in Minnesota
In an earlier post I described a very successful recital I presented in the fall of 1990 at the University of Minnesota at Crookston, in the snowy northwest corner of the state. I returned to the town two years later for another recital on October 15, 1992. This one was in a Lutheran Church and sponsored by the church along with UMC. The clipping at the right is a notice that appeared the day before the recital in the Crookston Daily Times.
The 1992 recital was part of a series I performed across three states that fall. I had completed my Piano Sonata No. 4 in June of that year, and it naturally became the centerpiece of the concert. The program was highly virtuosic. Aside from the sonata, it included my two Poems and my Impromptu, alongside challenging works of Beethoven (Thirty-Two Variations), Chopin (Ballade No. 1 and “Revolutionary” Etude), and Liszt (“La Campanella”).
